...This city should be called Caponeland
Long story short we maid the bed that we are laying in... its time to wash out the bed bugs, starting from the top. Considering most of the worker bees have and continue to be released, fired, or walked out with police escort.

Goodby surfside Village Redevelopment funds. The original Surfside Village was created in 1984 by Gerald Langston, paul Miketrick,Suzzane(build it and they will come(kuehens), Bud Asser and A couple othe idiots at City Hall. The Surfside Village was created by using certain Historic
properties such as the Pinewood Cemetery,The apt. building at &7 South Peninsula drive which was torn down by the city after it was bought by the Boot Hill saloon for parking they needed for parking for thier future Liquor License. One was the old Horse stable behind Main on Coates which was bought and torn down for the benefit of Hot Leathers, another was Peabody playground which was moved across the street on one of Doanes Properties. Then the city sold the property that was behind the peabody that was donated to the city by Smon Peabody to Doanes for parking they needed for the Bank and Blues Club. This property was originally given to the city by Simon Peabody whose house is next to Freshes which was originally owned by Ashher as a dormitory residential building. It was also used as a Historic structure to create Surfside village. The property was originally 2o North Halifax but was changed to 21 North halifax which is owned by Rice and rose and thier property was changed to 20 North Halifax so on paper it was far enough away so the Asher property could be changed to commercial for the bars. another was the commmuity united Methodist church which the congregation moved to the southeast corner of South Grandview . The congregation purchased 3 lots there. These lots don't contain the church but 706 Harvey, and 11 south Grandview which is on the east side of Grandvew all are across the street.. The building was completed n 1925.(photo 28 of the original plans) for Surfside vilage. All the address changes will be gone after the new e zone and put back were they origially were. The city tore up main street and peninsula to put in a new sewaage system which was stopped at peninsula and Main and never completed. There are at least 200 signatures of 500 residents that voted for Surfside Village that were forged. I know 3 properties were listed as historic with the State and I didn't sign anything. The the e zone is going to be created by Historic redevelopement funds given by the State to create this Village but after everything is torn down there won;t be any Historic Village because all the properties used won't be there. The pier was also used as a historic structure which won't be original.. I wonder where the funds are going to come from to complete the sewage system and where the sewage is going? Freshes dosen't even have a lift station. The State gives the city money to create historic zones and the city steals it but we pay for it twic,.once with city taxes te other with Federal takes. We will also pay for it again when they finish the sewage system.

What is underneath it all?
Town officials have adamantly refused to comply with the Town Charter and as a result voters and taxpayers have not been allowed to have a referendum - no public votes - on critically important matters such as:
-- dozens of no-bid contracts given out, siphoning off & depleting the town’s savings
-- the needless demolition and destruction of the beautiful, historic Community Center
-- the expenditure of millions of dollars of town savings (far more than is being admitted to by Town Hall) for demolition and to build a new and smaller Community Center with no Auditorium or Library, to be run on a deficit basis
-- the sell-out and complete changing of the Town's zoning code to vastly increase allowable development, density and congestion
-- the Town going into debt for 16 million dollars plus 9 million in interest and fees to replace the entire water and sewer system to expand capacity for future development in Bal Harbour and Surfside while simultaneously soaking Surfside residents with enormously increased, oppressive water and sewer bills
Surfside's Charter was amended by a vote of 92% of the people in 2004 but since 2007 and through today in 2011 town officials have MOST suspiciously refused to comply with the Town's own law.
Surfside is being run far more like a dictatorship than as a participatory democracy. Town officials provide cover for the drain of town money, and they let developers write zoning laws to suit their agenda. Special interests manipulate all official decisions.
