After all why not throw in a race ticket with the hotels. Most people would rather stay there and commute to Daytona anyway. At least there you get treated like a human being abled or disabled. The people are friendlier, the hotels are CLEANER and NEWER and not the filthy old B&G ratholes. The food is edible and the shirts are cheaper. I guarantee the trip would be a lot shorter and cheaper. After all where does the winner of the 500 say he is going after the race-TO DISNEY WORLD-.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-20486638384677452792010-02-14T18:57:28.636-08:002010-02-14T18:57:28.636-08:00I have been attending speedweek for the last sever...I have been attending speedweek for the last several years and am also disabled. Sometimes I require a wheelchair, while other times I can walk short distances. I can assure you that after today's experience 2/14/10 and having parking and transportation issues, I will never again attend a Daytona race or any other event. Although having tickets to get into the speedway, transportation nor assistance was provided to get to my designated location. So needless to say both my husband and my Valentine's Day as well as our race day were ruined by incompentance. We went back to our hotel and watched the race on tv ($185.00/ticket) gone to waste as well as a scheduled garage tour.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-86839901613484819712009-05-19T15:04:02.629-07:002009-05-19T15:04:02.629-07:00this same thing happened to me in 2007 and have ne...this same thing happened to me in 2007 and have never returned, shame on the speedway and nascar.i am also handicappedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-61441205712141313052009-03-13T19:38:00.000-07:002009-03-13T19:38:00.000-07:00Seems to me NASCAR is there just 2 times a year - ...Seems to me NASCAR is there just 2 times a year - I think you should find a better excuse that an event that takes up just 2 out of 52 weeks a yearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-68263070096165311492009-03-07T10:59:00.000-08:002009-03-07T10:59:00.000-08:00Daytona Beach is economically and morally dead, a ...Daytona Beach is economically and morally dead, a death caused by NASCAR, their cronies and their abuses thanks to the cooperation of corrupt public officials in city management.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-19953648740175944132009-03-04T12:12:00.000-08:002009-03-04T12:12:00.000-08:00I am disabled and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. We RV'd this year, but last year, we parked in the Handicapped lot and were met almost immediately by a golf cart. We were treated with kindness by all of the track employees involved with handicapped persons.

We had access to 12 elevators and everything ran smoothly. In the handicapped section at the speedway, there was an Usher who constantly walked along our area and made sure we were comfortable. Everyone treated us wonderfully and we were impressed with the organization of such a large event like this.

The Daytona Speedway people need to come to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and see how a professional race speedway really worksAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-40785903836004475232009-03-03T18:07:00.000-08:002009-03-03T18:07:00.000-08:00I do sympathize with people with a handicap, but y...I do sympathize with people with a handicap, but you don't have to be handicapped to have a problem getting out of any race. Any time 250,000 leave anything at the same time, you're going to have problems. If this person has been going to the 500 as many years as they say, they had to have know what some of the problems would be. Was the track suppose to hand out umbrellas to 250,000 because it was raining? Or just to the handicapped? I would think not of the fans were too happy to be standing out in the rain. Not having carts there afterward. Absolutely WRONG. Some of the things we all deal with. Others I will agree are complaints that need to be addressed for the handicap.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-26889433780504777392009-03-03T15:26:00.000-08:002009-03-03T15:26:00.000-08:00I am a handicapped lady from Cape Cod,who drove ro...I am a handicapped lady from Cape Cod,who drove round trip of 2500mi for a 400 mile race. The handicap parking was deplorable. They told you to get the (HP Lot G) at 5:30 AM, which I did to find trams, golf carts didn't start until 8:30. How was I to get to the front of the Speedway?????
I had to walk, which is my disability, and to this day I have not recovered. Asking anyone a question was a joke as a 2 yr old knew as much. The whole handicap situation was a great example of discrimination against the handicap and a way to get your money.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-20022340951973212272009-03-03T14:16:00.000-08:002009-03-03T14:16:00.000-08:00I AM A 100% DISABLED VET CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR....I AM A 100% DISABLED VET CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR. We were staying in a condo about 2 miles away and after trying to park once, opted for walking which, as this man indicates, is 2 miles to the track and over another mile to get to our seats. I do not doubt one word this man says as I commented several times about the inefficiences in and around the track.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7651388331897832796.post-70119613555935843562009-02-21T08:37:00.000-08:002009-02-21T08:37:00.000-08:00Oh My!
