Do any city officials and cops and firemen know about and/or read the Daytona Post? Hopefully they do, and will see they are all being exposed.

Is Dwayne Taylor a Freemason? 75% of cops are, maybe firemen, too. "The Brotherhood" looks out for its own (padding each other's pockets in business; coverinr crimes of each other, etc.)

Let it be the first question you ask from now on when communicating with city/county/police/etc: "Sir, are you a Freemason by any chance?"

The Police and Firefighters should fund their own pension. Just like any person funding their own 401k. Why should the People pay a wage and salary? The People must pay for repairs and insurance on top of city wages. Part of the taxes collected should pay for replacement insurance in the event the Police and Firefighters can't save a burning home. In fact the citizens should serve as police protecting themselves and their own property. Police only show up after you've been robbed.
Time for new thinking People. Don't let the thief sue the home owner for breaking his leg while kicking in a door to rob, rape, and pillage.

We have the same problem in NSB. One of our city commissioners just voted a raise for firemen and his wife is cashing a union retirement check fron FD. Commissioner Richenburg's wife is 46 years old retired and getting $63,000 pension for life. The 5% raise was supported by all commissioners. We have 6 firemen making over $100,000 one making $150,000 with benefits. Last year in the whole city we had 17 structural fires and all were total demo.

When you consider that assessments are down, does the Daytona Beach City Commission really think that people in this city will be willing to pay higher taxes on a house that is worth less, so they can continue to throw MORE money at the FIRE and POLICE UNIONS and their cozy pension scheme?

While the poor live on the streets, hard working people are losing their jobs and their life-sustaining income, the Mayor and these scumbags actually had the audacity to add even more money to their firemen friends so they can retire at age 50!

What's next? raise taxes even more because the city is short of money and because Building stopped and they won't lay off any Building Inspectors!

They need more money because they can't lay off ANYBODY in their corrupt patronage system. Layoffs only happen to schmucks like working people in the private sector!

They need more money from us because gas prices have gone up, and so on...

Seems to me we will need to get a new City Commission - that's a given - but, most of all, we need a state prosecutor that has the gonads and go after this mafia.

Thank you Daytona Post. Everyone stop reading the News Journal. Last week they called and asked me why I'm not buying ad space. the answer was easy, 1) No one reads your paper for listings, They start on line first now. no one using the paper, anyway no one I know belives the news journal any more. 2)too expensive .you raise the rates when times are good and when times are bad.3)and has anyone told you that people are losing their jobs and source of income... and all the journal does is write additional bad news and favor the good old boys. . now that it effects the N-J "now their concern".. I saw the hearing. There was a gentleman that addressed the city commission and argued against the raise, presenting evidence that it was out of line.

The commissioners totally ignored the citizen's comments and acted as if he did not exist. It certainly looked like the decision was made beforehand.

How can this be possible with sunshine laws and all?
