You Can Stop Corruption in Daytona Beach - Join the Floodthelines Campaign
Capone would have drooled over the power that today's "capos" have over the local politicians in Daytona Beach; a product of good ol' boy networks, campaign contributions and undue influences that propel unqualified individuals with a nasty predisposition for corruption into power. Their patrons exert total and absolute control over a city as if it was their private ranch and much to the detriment of its citizens.
Their control extends to the institutions that are tasked with the checks and balances to protect the public, and as a result they act with impunity.
They have reaped untold riches by getting their captive public officials plunder the public trust and finance everything from overpriced sales of real estate, privileged zoning deals, selective retaliatory zoning actions against their enemies, virtual immunity against criminal state laws, and, most galling, the funding of their personal pet projects and private indulgences. All courtesy of the taxpayers, which are unknowingly funding the largesse and who now must bear a gigantic burden that will take generations to pay off.

Daytona Beach has been besieged by an unprecedented wave of local government corruption that has thrown this formerly bustling beach town into anarchy, poverty, crime and despair.
Under near absolute control of a few multimillionaire special interests, corrupt officials have literally raped and pillaged a formerly bustling beach city into the poster boy of Florida Corruption. In no other place is the "Good 'ol Boy Gang-of -Thugs" mode of government more evident and acts with more impunity.
Their control extends to the institutions that are tasked with the checks and balances to protect the public, and as a result they act with impunity with the knowledge of having literal immunity in front of the law no matter the malfeasance.

God Bless Daytona Post for saying what needs to be said and may he protect you from these people, they will stop at nothing to maintain their power.
It isn't just Daytona Beach, but if you check out former Governor Mike Easley (NC) and Former Governor Don Siegelman (AL) you will find they both were involved with race cars and drivers. Easley is in the hot seat, and Siegelman just got an early release from prison on appeal for other matters. For many years Daytona has enriched a few, but for longer Florida has protected criminals who flee other states and find haven there. Florida is referred to as the mafia's retirement park, and eastern people joke without Florida there would be no street drugs or thugs at all. Good luck.
Doubt Crist will do anything, he'll refer to the "Florida Ethics Commission" (what an Oxymoron!...) which is controlled by Hyatt Brown (Brown and Brown Insurance) and the Speedway gang. They want Daytona Beach to stay the way it is and nothing will be done in this pathetic corrupt city.
Unfortunately our city has been taken over by evil influences as manifested by the corruption we see in local government. All that it takes for bad people from taking and abusing power is for good people to fail to act.

Only State or Federal involvement will get our city back to normal. Perhaps a couple of these corrupt people will finally get prosecuted once we all make our voice heard.

Put me down too. This gang of thugs has been exploiting Daytona Beach taxpayers for too long. It's time for all to take action before our children are made to pay for their abuse.
buildings are being erected and built without any permits and when it is reported the officials answer is " they have already paid plenty for the concrete permit", i have also investigated several other properties and found no permits, Then reported it to code enforcement and housing inspector and got the same answer. When reporting it to the Daytona Beach Property Appraiser they reported only the concrete image on their report even after an inspection of the property has been done with eyewitnesses and neighbors about watching them.what can we do about reporting that kind of crime?
We must all file corruption complaints with the state. Only by making our voices heard will the authorities take action against Daytona Beach Commisioners and that thug Chisholm.
